Meet The Team: Rowan Williams, Managing Director
06/05/25, 09:00
What’s your role at MiM, and what does a typical day look like for you?
I normally wake up around 5am, meditate for an hour before my daily ice bath… of course that is a joke.
My day usually starts with having breakfast with my wife and daughter whilst checking my emails. I usually make my way into the office for around 9am and spend the first hour catching up with the rest of the team. Most of the time my to-do list will grow after these conversations. Then, I tend to spend the rest of the morning on client calls and executing marketing activities.
My afternoons are usually spent completing the daily tasks on my to-do lists. However, usually there are requests that come through from clients on Teams which need action straight away. Other than that, I check in with the team regularly to make sure they have everything they need.
What is your favourite part of your job?
There are two parts of my job that I really enjoy. The first is speaking to clients. I love hearing how passionate they are about their business, and because we usually work with the MD/CEO or owner, there is a lot of passion in the discussions we have. I love supporting their goals with marketing ideas that can help them achieve their vision.
The second part is working with the awesome team at MiM. Each member of the team feels like family, mainly because we are such a small team and we all get on so well together. I love hearing how they are succeeding with our clients and celebrate the small wins.
What has been your most memorable project at MiM so far?
For me, it has to be the work we have done with Wren Kitchens - supporting them across four marketing areas and filling niche gaps in their team. I do love working with enterprise organisations, it reminds me of my Microsoft and Hitachi days. So working with the large team over at Wren has been really fun and I continue to enjoy working with them.
What’s your favourite tool, app, or resource that makes your job easier?
For me it has to be Microsoft Planner. It has transformed how we manage internal and external work. We are able to get so much done because everything is so organised.
What’s the first marketing campaign (outside of MiM) that really made an impression on you?
For me it had to be Volvo at the Super Bowl. It has been called the greatest interception of all time. The premise was simple, don’t spend money on TV ads during the superbowl because they are really expensive. Instead, run a social media campaign where you tag Volvo every time you see a car ad during the superbowl and you could win a brand new car. A great campaign that had unbelievable results.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
Playing tennis and golf, as well as spending time with my wife and young daughter.
What’s the last book, podcast, film or TV show that inspired you?
Curious Brainfarts podcast… it is weird and wonderful but quite funny.
What’s the best piece of professional or personal advice you’ve ever received?
Everything happens for a reason.
